We went to the theater to see a movie called Rio once. It was about talking parrots. Like, not just asking for crackers, but telling jokes and stuff. Don’t get us wrong, that premise made for a phenomenal movie, but we’d still rather it have been about well-made yet affordably priced shotshells.

Here we have five 12 Gauge shotshells by Rio themselves, each loaded with 27 pellets of #4 buckshot. A #4 buck pellet weighs just over one third as much as a double-aught pellet, so it’s not as likely to penetrate as deeply. That certainly works to its advantage during a home defense scenario where you wouldn’t want to break down walls, and because more than twice as many of the 0.24” diameter pellets fit to a 2 3/4”, shell you can count on a far denser spread with which to ensnare your target. A great choice for permanently dealing with a coyote and whitetail as well!

Rio traces their lineage all the way back to the man who invited dynamite, and as a subsidiary of one of the world’s foremost authorities on explosives you can count on their shotshell to deliver the goods when the firing pin falls. These shells’ hard plastic tubes and high brass heads support proper functioning in essentially every model of shotgun.
