Description
Steel shot is nontoxic, but its density is relatively low at 8 g/cc. Lead shot is much, much denser at 11 g/cc, although its toxicity makes it unsuitable for hunting waterfowl.
But bismuth shot strikes a happy balance. This Hevi-Bismuth Waterfowl 28 Gauge shotshell by Hevi-Shot is loaded with 7/8 ounces of #4 bismuth shot, which has a respectable density of 9.6 g/cc and is completely nontoxic. It patterns densely even in brisk crosswinds, retains ample energy over long distances for lethal results on ducks, and is even safe to fire in older shotguns. Bismuth is a rarer element than iron or lead, although its exceptional performance more than makes up for that shortcoming – this ammo fills a bag limit lickety-split!
This American-made waterfowl load isn’t just great because its nontoxic shot is 22 percent denser than steel. It’s high-quality all around, with an even-patterning wad, all-weather primer, clean-burning charge of fast-burning powder, and smooth-cycling reloadable hull.
